Bawtry Forrest Trial Run - 16 September 2007 - Martin James

This was the first time I had competed in this race.  It had not rained for weeks (It is raining as I type this) and as such 99% of the trail was dry.  Several club members has competed the day before on a relay race in Sheffield (4 mile legs I think).  Lots of DAC members competed.

Conditions were good, although it was hot in the sun much of the run was under the shade of the trees.  The wind was not bad.

Dave Grayson did the necessary shouting to keep the eager runners under control whilst the organisers gave us instructions.

Off we went and we passed the first mile marker - I was not convinced that the mile markers were all that accurate.

The course was well marked out with arrows, tape and marshals.

A welcome drink station was situated about 4 to 5 miles in to the race.

The last mile was a killer (along Martin Lane) for me as I thought I was closer to the finish than I was.

More drinks at the finish and a pair of socks for all runners that returned their number.

I enjoyed this race and will definitely run it again.  I am looking forward to the results.

Thanks to the organisers and volunteers.

The below map should be fairly accurate (you can view it as aerial photograph if you click on the text "View this route in MapMyRun" below).
